From Electrical Installation Guide

your trials to modify page Electrical installation design methodology at the beginning of August, which were "blocked" by mistake

Hi Be-cy-de, I have just seen that you tried to modify the page Electrical installation design methodology at the beginning of August, without success: your contributions were rejected, with a message saying something like "... prevent the creation of external links to non-authorized users".

I don't know if you are familiar with mediawiki wikis, but to explain a bit more why this happened (and should not have happened):

  • your proposition was blocked by an "Abuse Filter", which we use to block spam contributions, in particular users who try to add spam links
  • but is was not the case with your contribution (you did not try to add an external link)
  • in fact, I discovered today that it's our Abuse Filter definition which was not correct (it was blocking because it detected an external link, but this external link was not new, it was already existing and valid)
  • I have now modified this Abuse Filter, so that it only acts on ADDED content
  • so feel free to retry a modification (if you still want to do that)
  • if needed or if you have other questions, you can also contact me on my LMischler - user talk page, alternatively you may send me a mail: laurent.mischler[at]se.com

Sorry for not detecting it faster, but these filters block many spammer (>50K in 2.5 years ... eg on average >50 per day ...)

ps: I also have seen your modification on the Play with sandbox page, if it is more than just a test at editioing a page, feel free to tell more about this "GREI" topic
